Learn How to Analyze Stock Charts

Technical Analysis is the study of market action, primarily through the use of charts, for the purpose of forecasting future price trends.1

Welcome to the Technical Analysis section of 'The Study,' which is a body of knowledge dedicated to providing traders with a free source of trading education. The Technical Analysis section currently contains articles on 'Chart Patterns,' (see below). A section on 'Technical Indicators' will debut in the coming weeks. In 'The Study,' you can also access articles on Options Theory and Options Trading Strategies, by clicking the appropriate tab above.

Chart Patterns

Chart Patterns are a group of commonly recognizable price formations that appear on the charts of stocks, commodities and other financial assets. When properly detected, these patterns provide the technician (also known as "chartist") with a framework within which he/she can attempt to forecast future market trends and price objectives.
